EU: Commission tells Poland to reassess the market for telecom deregulation

The European Commission has released a notice to the public outlining how the authority has requested Poland’s telecom regulator to use more recent market assessments on which the telecom regulator can base its deregulation proposal. According to the Commission, the deregulation plan could have a negative effect on the sector in Poland and could potentially limit offers available to consumers and businesses. UKE, Poland’s telecom regulator, has proposed deregulation conditions to allow other operators to access telecom company Telekomunikacja Polska’s broadband network in 11 locations in the country. The Commission has asked the UKE to withdraw the proposal.
