South Africa: Media giants probed for collusion

South Africa’s Competition Commission has announced a probe into four of the country’s largest media houses for possible collusion. Caxton, Media24, Independent Newspapers, and Avusa are being investigated by the authority and were notified of the probe last December, according to reports. The investigation involves looking into alleged collusions between the four companies as early as before 1998. As a result of the investigation, Caxton has reportedly withdrawn its spot on the government’s print and digital media transformation task team.
