Spain: Authorities to look into possible antitrust law infringement by Bank of Spain

Spain’s competition authority will reportedly look into the Bank of Spain concerning possible competition law infringement. According to reports, the authority is looking into the legality of the bank’s practice of suggesting interest rate caps for lenders on deposit accounts. While a formal investigation has not been launched, the board of the antitrust authority will eed information from the lenders as well as the bank to conduct a review, asid a spokesperson for the authority. The Bank of Spain declined to comment on the matter.
