Switzerland: Airfreight carriers fined millions for price-fixing

Airfreight carriers Panalpina Welttransport AG and Kuehne & Nagel International AG have been fined by Switzerland’s Competition Commission for price-fixing. The two have, combined, been fined about $4.7 million. The fines are part of larger remedies to be paid by two more international airfreight forwarders for price-fixing between 2003 and 2007. The Deutsche Post AG/GHL came forward with the information that lead to the Competition Commission’s investigation, which ultimately discovered the price-fixing, though the Deutsche Post was not fined under the leniency program.
