Tanzania/Zambia/Zimbabwe: Events held to review cooperative efforts of antitrust legislation peer-reviews
In the first of its kind, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development decided in 2011 to do a tripartite peer review (TPR) exercise where Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe each review each other’s competition policies. In comparing and assessing the competition legislation of each nation, the TPR resulted in recommendations for each nation on how to improve antitrust policy. Events are now scheduled to reveal to stakeholders the TPR’s findings as well as to hold workshops on specific issues identified by the review. The first event will be held in Zimbabwe and opened by the Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce.
