Pakistan: Supreme Court calls Secretary Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources to justify rising petroleum prices

In response to a report of certain recommendations for the Secretary Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources, a three-judge bench assembled to address, among other issues, why petroleum prices rose. In response, secretary for ministry of petroleum Waqar Masood denied reports that prices of compressed natural gas were raised without prescribed process for doing so, adding that the ECC approved of those prices; Juscie Khawaja noted that per 18th Amendment, pricing issues no longer remain under the ECC’s control.
