E.U./Switzerland: Glencore files EU anti-trust notice for Xstrata deal

Glencore, a Swiss company specializing in integrated commodities production and markeing, has formally notified the European Commission of its $33 billion plan to take over Xstrata, a Swiss Global diversified mining group.Once the notification has been acknowledged by the Commission, the regulator has 25 days to decide whether to approve, reject or begin an in-depth probe. The taker over would create the world’s fourth largest miner.
