Ofcom Chairman to head Competition and Markets Authority

Lord David Currie, the former chairman of the broadcast regulator Ofcom, has been chosen to chair the Competition and Markets Authority (“CMA”). The new U.K. antitrust agency, will integrate the already existing competition agencies, the Office of Fair Trading (“OFT”), and the U.K Competition Commission.

    Clive Maxwell, John Fingleton’s replacement at the OFT, will work alongside Mr. Currie when the CMA is in operation next year.
