CCP finds conflict of interest in GP consultation of Darzi center closure at NHS Petersborough

The Cooperation and Competition Panel has ruled that NHS Peterborough’s consultation of two general practitioners as “lead clinicians” in its decision to close the Darzi center violated conflict of interest rules. The GPs had vested interests in surgeries and urgent care services that could benefit from the center’s closure. The CCP recommends to health secretary Andrew Lansley that NHS Petersborough work with independent clinicians to review the consultation.
