CCI dismisses abuse of dominance claims against Orissa Mining Corp.

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has dismissed All Odisha Steel Federation’s complaint against Orissa Mining Corporation. All Odisha Steel Federation accused Orissa of abuse of dominance in the market for iron ore, by demanding arbitrary and unreasonable prices. The complaint further alleges that Orissa engaged in price-fixing by treating the highest price at a iron ore price-setting tender as the benchmark.

    The CCI dismissed the case because Orissa’s market share is only 9.52 percent, a far cry from a dominant market position, especially in a fragmented market.
