EC sends Sony group questionnaire regarding EMI bid

Bloomberg reports that the European Commission has sent the Sony coalition a questionnaire about its proposed acquisition of EMI’s publishing business. The questionnaire contains inquiries into the possibility of the Sony group’s ability to raise prices after the deal, the necessity for licenses for the two companies’ music portfolios in online music services, and effects on the companies’ negotiating power with royalty clearinghouses for copyright owners.
