Joanna Christoforou, a partner at Morgan Lewis & Bockius’s London office, will be joining the firm, along with René Galle from A&O Shearman’s Hamburg office. Both lawyers bring extensive backgrounds in antitrust law and litigation to their new roles.

Christoforou is recognized for her expertise in handling high-stakes and complex U.K. and EU competition litigation. Notably, she led Sainsbury’s to a landmark victory at the Supreme Court against Visa during her tenure at Morgan Lewis, setting a precedent in multilateral interchange fee competition litigation.

Galle, who has been of counsel at A&O Shearman, boasts a track record of success in high-profile competition litigation cases. He is also a regional co-head of the prestigious Association of German Antitrust Lawyers.

The firm’s European competition disputes resolution team now comprises 14 partners and 44 lawyers.

Antony Maton, global co-chair at Hausfeld, emphasized the significance of these hires, stating that the duo’s “formidable experience will undoubtedly elevate our capabilities.” Christoforou will join the firm in June, while Galle is set to commence in September.
