Charles River Associates Adds Senior Consultant to Antitrust Practice

Charles River Associates, a consulting firm specializing in economic, financial, and management advisory services, has announced that economist Dr. Steven Tadelis has joined the company as a Senior Consultant in its Antitrust & Competition Economics Practice, according to a statement from the firm.

    Dr. Tadelis currently serves as Professor of Economics, Business and Public Policy and holds the Sarin Chair in Leadership and Strategy at the University of California, Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. His academic work focuses on digital markets, including e-commerce and internet economics, per a statement released by the company.

    His research portfolio includes field experiments analyzing the effectiveness of digital advertising, studies examining reputation and feedback systems in online marketplaces, and research on algorithmic pricing strategies. According to a statement from Charles River Associates, Dr. Tadelis has also provided economic testimony in litigation cases in the United States and Canada involving digital markets.

    In addition to his litigation work, Dr. Tadelis has contributed to policy discussions by participating in Federal Trade Commission hearings addressing competition and consumer protection issues, according to a statement from the firm.

    The firm’s Antitrust & Competition Economics Practice works with clients on matters involving regulatory investigations, competition policy, and litigation support. Per a statement from the company, the addition of Dr. Tadelis strengthens the practice’s expertise in digital market economics and complex antitrust issues.

    Dr. Tadelis began his academic career at Stanford University before joining the faculty at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business in 2005, according to a statement. During his academic tenure, he also held leadership roles in the technology sector while on leave from the university.

    From 2011 to 2013, he served as Senior Director and Distinguished Economist at eBay Research Labs. Later, he joined Amazon as Vice President of Economics and Market Design from 2016 to 2017, according to a statement. Following that role, he continued working with Amazon through appointments as an Economics Fellow and Amazon Scholar.

    According to a statement from Charles River Associates, Dr. Tadelis’s experience in both academia and major technology companies positions him to advise clients on complex economic issues related to digital platforms, market design, and competition in the online economy.
