Apple Top Cloud Executive, To Leave Company In April

Michael Abbott, Apple’s top executive in charge of cloud services, is leaving the company in April, according to a report by Bloomberg. 

Abbott is the latest in a string of high-profile executives to leave the iPhone maker in recent months.

In October, design chief Jony Ive announced his departure, and in November, retail chief Angela Ahrendts said she was leaving. The departures come as Apple is facing criticism for its largest-ever iPhone lineup, which has been blamed for disappointing sales.

The company is also under pressure to show that its services business can offset declining iPhone sales. Abbott joined Apple in 2012 from Amazon, where he was in charge of the development of the Kindle Fire. He will be replaced by John Giannandrea, who joined Apple from Google last year.
