Allen & Overy announced the hiring of partner Peter McDonald in its Sydney, Australia office as the firm boosts its competition practice in the nation.
McDonald will reportedly be coming to the firm from Herbert Smith Freehills, where he worked since 2003.
Prior to HSF, McDonald worked with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission as a senior officer, according to reports.
Allen & Overy has seen some office shake-ups in the last year. In 2011 the firm’s competition partner Dave Poddar left to join Clifford Chance, also in Sydney.
McDonald will now replace Poddar as Allen & Overy’s sole competition partner in the nation.
