Australia: Policy group rallies for ACCC breakup

Policy group The Monash Business Policy Reform Group is reportedly calling for a breakup of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission as it rallies for an overhaul of the nation’s competition policy, say reports.

    The group released a paper this week declaring that lawmakers need to bring clarity to the legislation regarding merger reviews, joint ventures, cartels and other issues. Among its recommendations is the call for consumer protection to be left off the ACCC’s agenda.
