Brazil: Multinationals named in subway bid-rigging probe

 |  March 23, 2014

Brazil antitrust authority CADE announced late last week that 18 companies are suspected of partaking in a bid-rigging cartel that affected the nation’s subways and railways between 1998 and 2013, say reports.

The companies named include Japan’s Mitsui & Co., Germany’s Siemens and France’s Alstom.

Reports say each company will be questioned as individuals; those found guilty of bid-rigging will be banned from any public tenders for the next five years.
