Canada: Dawn raids hit Quebec construction

 |  March 11, 2014

Canada’s Competition Bureau announced Tuesday it has conducted several dawn raids at construction companies in Quebec as part of an investigation into anticompetitive collusion, say reports.

A spokesperson for the regulator announced the searches as part of a probe into claims of public contract bid-rigging between various companies. The case draws out earlier allegations probed by the Charbonneau Commission, a high-profile probe that followed allegations that the companies rigged public park construction and sidewalk contracts, among other projects.

While the Bureau declined to name the companies search or confirm how many companies were raided, some reports said more than a dozen were subject to the searches.
