Canada: Panasonic slapped with bid-rigging fine

 |  February 23, 2014

The Ontario Superior Court of Justice issued a multi-million dollar fine on Japan-based manufacturer Panasonic for its alleged involvement in a bid-rigging scheme, say reports.

Canada’s Competition Bureau announced Thursday that the company colluded with a competitor of auto parts manufacturers to rig bidding for Toyota Canada deals. The company was ordered to pay $4.7 million, say reports.

Reports say the firms fixed the bidding by deciding ahead of time who would win the contracts up for auction. Toyota was not accused of any wrongdoing.
