China’s state-owned Tsinghua Unigroup announced plans to acquire RDA Microelectronics in a $910 million deal, reports say.

Tsinghua Unigroup is funded by Tsinghua University and said it will acquire RDA Microelectronis, which manufacturers radio-frequency chips for mobile devices.

The companies say they plan to close the deal in the first half of next year.

A rival bid for the company was made by Shanghai Pudong Science and Technology Investment Co, but ultimately lost to Tsinghua Unigroup.
