China: MOFCOM rewrites rules on merger reviews

China’s Ministry of Commerce is set to propose new regulations for merger reviews in a move that reports say will allow the regulator to hold a tighter grip on global transactions.

    Under current regulations, launched in 2010, reports say MOFCOM has reviewed about 750 merger deals. The new rules will be proposed in the first half of this year as the body continues to streamline its review process, say reports.

    Reports did not specify what the new regulations will entail, however.
