Competition Bureau provides update on Maple-TMX Group deal

 |  April 29, 2012

Maple and TMX Group have announced that the Canadian Competition Bureau have provided them with a status update on the review of the merger. The Bureau informed Maple and TMX group that it “has provided views and input to the OSC [Ontario Securities Commission] for its consideration relating to the potential impact of the Maple transaction on completion.” The Bureau acknowledged that the OSC’s draft recognition orders may “materially change the regulatory environment” in a way that would mitigate the Bureau’s competition concerns. A decision on the Maple-TMX Group deal will not be reached by the Bureau until the draft recognition order process has been completed. The orders are to be published for public comment, for a 30-day period.
