Consumer Council supports new class action regime

Hong Kong’s Consumer Council has announced that it supports a new regime for class action lawsuits proposed by the Law Reform Commission. The Report on Class Actions advocates implementing the regime incrementally, beginning with consumer cases. The Consumer Legal Action Fund is to be the funding mechanism that allows plaintiffs of limited means to bring consumer class actions.
