E.U.: Commission approves Brightpoint-Ingram Micro merger

The European Commission (EC) has cleared the proposed acquisition of Brightpoint, a US-based distributer of mobility/telecommunications products, by Ingram Micro, a distributer of electronic products. The proposed acquisition would lead to an overlap between the parties in the market for distribution of consumer electronics; however, the EC has concluded that the merger is unlikely to raise competition concerns, due to already existing market constraints and narrow market segments.
