EU: Commission clears life insurance merger

UK-based MetLife Assurance Limited has been cleared to proceed with its merger with rival Rothesay Life Limited, according to reports.

MetLife will be acquired by its fellow UK insurer following the European Commission’s review of the deal. Reports say the EU regulator found the companies would still face significant competition following the transaction.

Financial details of the merger were not reported.
