The European Commission has reportedly rejected a complaint filed by an individual against the UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rule.
Reports say the complaint, filed by player agent Daniel Stiani, was dismissed. Financial Fair Play has been criticized by some as anticompetitive as it restrains how football clubs can spend their money to acquire players and increase salaries.
According to reports, UEFA introduced the FFP rules in 2011 following major financial losses from several clubs.
In a statement, the Commission said the decision to dismiss the complaint “does not take a view on the merits of the case or on the legitimate interest of the complaint.” Instead, reports say, authorities tossed the complaint because the same lawsuit is also pending in Belgium.
