EU: Vodafone Dutch set for approval

EU antitrust regulators are set to approve a plan for Liberty Global and Vodafone to merge their Dutch operations after the companies have offered minor concessions.

The companies, which want to want to use the merger to better compete with former incumbent KPN, offered concessions on July 12 but did not provide details.

The post-merger company will be the second-largest telecoms company in the Netherlands. U.S. cable group Liberty’s Ziggo is the largest cable TV operator in the Netherlands and the UK’s Vodafone the nation’s second-biggest mobile network operator.
