U.S. District Judge Susan Illston has ruled that former acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal cannot represent Hui Hsiung, a former AU Optronics executive, in his appeal of a price-fixing conviction. The DOJ had sought to keep Katyal from arguing the case himself; Katyal had supervised other government attorneys when the U.S. opposed AU Optronics’ efforts to quash grand jury subpoenas. Katyal is now a partner at Hogan Lovells.
