Germany: BMW cuts Daimler cooperation over collusion

On Tuesday, Sueddeutsche Zeitung reported that BMW has suspended talks on future cooperation projects with Daimler. According to industry sources, BMW has lost trust in Daimler after the company alerted authorities to a possible cartel among car makers.

    The projects put on hold include efforts to develop charging stations for electric cars. There had also been speculation that BMW and Daimler would combine their individual ride-sharing services in an attempt to compete with Uber.

    The European Commission and German Bundeskartellamt are investigating the allegations that Daimler, Audi, Porsche, BMW and Volkswagen met to discuss prices, standards and suppliers to the detriment of foreign car makers.
