Germany/China: Pharma tech merger delayed for ongoing review

German pharmaceutical technology firm Merck announced that the anticipated timetable for its acquisition of UK-based AZ Electronic Materials has been extended due to the ongoing merger review by Chinese regulators.

    Reports say the company extended its acquisition offer until the last day of February as China’s Ministry of Commerce continues to review the deal.

    While the deal is delayed, Merck has also announced antitrust clearance for the deal from Japanese regulators. Clearance has already been granted in Germany, Taiwan and the US, say reports.
