The chief executive officer of the city’s competition watchdog, Dr Stanley Wong, stepped down on Monday due to health reasons.
Wong will remain with the Competition Commission as an honorary adviser, commission chairwoman Anna Wu Hung-yuk said in an announcement the same day.
Rose Webb, the commission’s senior executive director since April 2014, has been appointed to take up Wong’s position effective immediately, until September 2 next year.
“Dr Wong has shown exemplary leadership, particularly in the run-up to the full commencement of the Competition Ordinance on December 14, 2015,” Wu said, adding that his contributions to the drafting of the “very practical and local-focused” Competition Guidelines should be highlighted.
