India: Disney, Network18 broadcasting deal approved

The acquisition of a 26 percent stake in IC Media Distribution Services Pvt Ltd by Walt Disney Group’s UTV Global Broadcasting Ltd has been approved by the Competition Commission of India. The Commission noted no competition concerns over the merger. IC Media Distribution Services Ptc Ltd is a part of Network18 group. The CCI noted that exclusive license will be granted to IC for TV channel distribution. Financial terms of the agreement were not reported.
