Italy’s Competition Authority has fined Ryanair for unfair booking practices which have been found to harm consumers. According to reports, the low-budget airliner, based in Ireland, will be required to pay $521,200 after the regulator found the company failed to simplify the booking process, which often included fees unknown to consumers that raised total costs. Specifically, Ryanair’s 2 percent processing fee, which was first introduced between December of last year and February of this year, due to the fact the fee is not added until the end of the booking process, making the total cost of booking a flight unclear to consumers.
