Blazek’s practice also centers on the European Union’s Foreign Subsidies Regulation. She represents clients before German competition authorities as well as the European Commission and European courts. According to a statement, she is expected to play a key role in the firm’s pan-European competition team and will maintain a regular presence in Brussels as part of that effort.

“I am delighted that we have been able to recruit Sarah, a renowned and highly respected lawyer with a reputation for her collaborative approach to serving clients,” said Ansgar Rempp, Jones Day’s Partner-in-Charge of Germany. “She is an important addition in the growth of our Antitrust and Competition Law practice in Germany and throughout Europe, increasing our competition headcount in Germany to four partners.”

Blazek joins a globally integrated Antitrust & Competition Law Practice that includes lawyers across business centers worldwide, providing counsel on antitrust matters in the United States, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region, per a statement. In Germany and across Europe, the team advises on merger control, cartel investigations, abuse of dominance cases, state aid issues, private damages actions, and foreign investment screening. The firm said its cross-border approach enables it to manage complex, multi-jurisdictional transactions and investigations while delivering business-focused regulatory advice.

“Sarah is a great addition to the Firm and makes our German and European competition practice even stronger across the board,” said Alexandre Verheyden, co-leader of Jones Day’s Antitrust & Competition Law Practice. “Germany is host to some of the EU’s largest manufacturing companies and a strong bench of German qualified competition partners is an important part of the Firm’s continued growth throughout Europe.”

In a statement addressing her move, Blazek highlighted the firm’s integrated European platform and international reach. “Jones Day combines outstanding antitrust and state-aid experience with a consistently integrated European and international presence. In particular, the close integration of the German practice with the strongly positioned Brussels team offers clients seamless advice on complex and cross-border proceedings – which is a very exciting opportunity. I look forward to working with my new colleagues.”
