Latvia: Cable merger cleared, with concessions

The Latvian Competition Council has given its approval for Cable operators Izzi and Baltcom to merge, according to reports, though the regulator did impose conditions on the deal. Reports say those conditions will only be imposed if the two parties win a tender bid to provide paid content in the coming months; if won, the two parties will be required to go before the Competition Council with an offer to avoid harm to competition in the paid digital terrestrial TV services market.
