O’Melveny announced that Julia Schiller, former Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General of the US Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division (DOJ or the Division), has rejoined the firm as a partner in the Antitrust & Competition Practice, based in Washington, DC. A seasoned antitrust lawyer, Schiller has extensive experience in merger reviews, antitrust litigation, and antitrust investigations, in both private practice and the federal government.
Schiller first joined O’Melveny as an associate in 2007, practicing for ten years in the firm’s Washington, DC office. For the past three and a half years, she has served as Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General of the Division, where she provided oversight across a broad range of civil enforcement matters. In addition, Schiller played a leading role in advancing significant new or updated policies at the Division, including those relating to merger remedies, alternative dispute resolution, and the timing of the merger review process.
At O’Melveny, Schiller will guide clients’ transactions through the DOJ’s and the Federal Trade Commission’s merger review process. She also will represent clients before the agencies in investigations of suspected antitrust violations and advise clients on antitrust compliance, including obligations under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act, and design antitrust compliance programs.
“Julia is an esteemed alumna and we are delighted to welcome her home,” said O’Melveny chair Bradley J. Butwin. “O’Melveny has a long history of encouraging government service because we believe it is good for our firm and our clients. That is especially true in Julia’s case, and we know from experience that she embodies O’Melveny’s core values of excellence, leadership, and citizenship.”
