Russia: Rostelecom approved for state telecom buyout

Russian telecommunications giant Rostelecom was approved by shareholders to buyout state company Svyazinvest, along with its 20 subsidiaries. While voters offered a 97.7 percent approval of the deal, reports say only about 61.6 percent of eligible voters actually took part in the voting process. Shareholders that abstained from the vote will be able to ask for share buyback, however. Russia first announced plans to sell its stake in Svyazinvest last April.
