SEC filing reveals America Movil’s offered concessions to overturn $1 billion fine

In its SEC filing, America Movil disclosed that it had offered concessions to Mexico’s Cofeco in March in an effort to convince the antitrust watchdog to overturn its fine. The $1 billion fine was imposed last year for America Movil’s monopolistic practices in the market for fees charged to rivals. The wireless carrier’s concessions included reducing such fees to 31 centavos from 39, as well as providing calls to other networks for no additional charge.
