South Africa: Asphalt company pleads guilty to cartel activity

The Competition Commission of South Africa has referred to the Competition Tribunal (Tribunal) for confirmation as an order a consent settlement agreement it has reached with the More Asphalt.

    In terms of the agreement, More Asphalt has undertaken to pay an administrative penalty of 579,204.57 rand (US$41,116.27).

    More Asphalt was charged with price fixing, collusive tendering, and market division in contravention of the Competition Act in 2011 and 2015.
