South Korea is poised to welcome a new chairman to lead its Fair Trade Commission, say reports.
Former vice chairman Jeong Jae-chan has been nominated to become the watchdog’s new leader; experts said Tuesday that Jeong is known for his expertise in fair competition policy. Reports say he served as FTC vice chairman for three years beginning in January 2011.
He has held significant positions at the regulator for a decade, most recently focusing on matters of competition and cartel activities.
Jeong was nominated by South Korean President Park Geun-hye; Jeong now faces parliamentary confirmation before he can officially join the FTC as its new chairman.
