Spain: CNMC sets obligations for Authors association

 |  July 28, 2015

Spanish regulators have closed the proceedings against the General Association of Authors and Editors (SGAE). The case, ongoing since June 26th 2013, concerned several complaints from individuals (members of the SGAE) over violations to Spain’s Competition laws.

The aforementioned conducts include the building of a system for giving discounts and an opaque application of music content tariffs. It also concerns the manipulation of Antena 3 and Telecinco’s ability to determine their own musical content through the use of abusive conditions.

Through their recent Resolution, the CNMC considers the commitments offered by the SGAE on October 2014 to be adequate for reestablishing proper competition in the Music reproduction and public communications market.
