Malaga’s Taxi driver’s guild has gone on an indefinite strike until they reach an agreement with the city council to resolve the situation caused by the arrival of “about 70 VTC (private hire vehicle) from the Community of Madrid,” who have arrived in the city In recent days, said the president of the Unified Association of Autonomous Taxis of Malaga (Aumat), José Royón.
Representatives of Malaga’s taxi unions have met with the mayor, Francisco de la Torre, who has contacted the company that transferred the VTCs from Madrid to Malaga “to request that at least Half of these vehicles return today to their place of origin. “However, this has not been enough to appease the strikers.
The City Council has indicated further actions will be carried out on these rental vehicles, such as the creation of a specific and unique rate for the licenses and authorizations for these vehicles that will allow them create a list, providing further control over the operators.
