U.S.: $9.5 billion price-fixing case against dairy industry proceeds

A U.S. District Court in California has denied the dairy industry’s motion to dismiss in a case against the sector’s alleged price-fixing. According to charges filed, $9.5 billion has been earned by the dairy industry through fixing prices, allegedly accomplished by slaughtering more than 500,000 cows to decrease supply. Among those charged are the National Milk Producers Federation, Dairy Farmers of America, and Land O’Lakes. The District Court denied a claim by defendants that the court did not have jurisdiction over the case.
