UK/Netherlands: Top EU cable co makes bid for Ziggo

Europe’s largest cable provider, UK-based Liberty Global, is reportedly looking into the possibility of acquiring Netherlands-based Ziggo, according to the Dutch company. Sources say Liberty Global could make an offer as early as this month.

The UK firm already holds about a 30 percent stake in Ziggo, but failed at an earlier attempt to fully acquire the company.

While sources say Liberty Global is having another go at the acquisition, the company declined to comment on the matter and a statement by Ziggo said that there is “no certainty” that a deal will be reached.
