UK: Ofcom chief to say goodbye

 |  October 2, 2014

The head of UK telecommunications watchdog Ofcom announced plans to step down from his post in December.

Reports say Ofcom chief executive Ed Richards will leave his position after eight years, saying it is “the right time to move on.”

He added that it has been a “privilege” working for the regulator.

Richards was appointed to the position in 2006, but had previously sat on the Ofcom Board and served as its chief operating officer.

According to reports, Richards’ successor will likely be named early next year shortly after his departure.
