UK: OFT mulls roof tile acquisition

The UK’s Office of Fair Trading is currently reviewing Lagan Cement’s offer to acquire a roof tile operation to determine whether the merger falls under its jurisdiction.

    The OFT is reviewing Lagan’s plans to acquire Quinn Building Products, the roof tile business owned by Quinn Group. Reports say the merging entities both operate in the North.

    UK regulators are now looking at whether the deal falls under the scope of its merger review jurisdiction, when it could then impose restrictions on the deal or refer it to the Competition Commission for further analysis.
