UK: Telecom regulator targets superfast broadband

The UK’s watchdog for the telecommunications market, Ofcom, is reportedly looking into whether market leader BT is abusing its dominant position concerning the sale of fiber optic broadband services. Its rival TalkTalk has sent a complaint to the regulator claiming BT is fixing prices it requires rivals to pay if they want to use its network and looking to develop itself into a monopoly. The company accuses the market leader of “operating an abusive margin squeeze,” according to reports. A spokesperson for BT denied any wrongdoing.
