US: Comcast, Time Warner rumors heat up

Reports say that as Time Warner Cable explores potential merger options, sources told reporters Friday that the company’s suitors may include Comcast and that Comcast is meeting with advisors on a potential deal.

    According to those sources, however, Comcast is not in active merger discussions with Time Warner. But as claims increase that Comcast is exploring the deal, Time Warner has openly stated that its preferred buyer would be Comcast.

    Charter Communications is reportedly edging closer to bidding on Time Warner.

    According to reports, the parties would face significant regulatory hurdles from within the US telco watchdog the Federal Communications Commission.
