US: ITC handed latest request for import ban

 |  April 21, 2014

Canadian-based semiconductor firm ViXS and its US counterpart have reportedly lodged a complaint with the US International Trade Commission against rival Entropic Communications, alleging the company infringed on ViXS patents through products imported into the nation.

According to reports, ViXS is now seeking an import ban on Entropic products, including switches, adaptors, and other equipment parts relating to various services.

Included in the products alleged to have infringed on ViXS patents is DirecTV set top boxes that include Entropic MoCA chips.

In a separate ruling, ViXS will reportedly seek damages in federal court.

Reports say ViXS’s ITC complaint was filed following Entropic’s lawsuit against the competitor in May of last year on charges of patent infringement.
