US: McSweeny confirmed for FTC position again

The US Senate Commerce Committee reportedly confirmed President Barack Obama-nominated Terrell McSweeny to serve as a Federal Trade Commission on Monday, more than six months after her nomination.

    Reports say McSweeny, who will be the third Democrat of the five-panel FTC heads, was previously approved by the Senate last November; Congress had to confirm her again because she did not receive a vote from the Senate last year.

    McSweeny served as the US Department of Justice’s top counsel on competition policy and intergovernmental relations, as well as a domestic policy adviser to Vice President Joe Biden.
